Descriptions

A nummus of the type that weighed 1/96 of a pound. Made in AD 317-324 in Nicomedia (modern Izmit in Turkey), it is one of the earlier nummi from the Seaton Down hoard. The coin was issued by Licinius II and depicts the god Jupiter and the text reads that Jupiter is the protector of the Emperor.
