flake (flake)

Descriptions

This flint flake dates to the Neolithic and was found at the site of Hembury in Devon. Flakes like this were used for cutting because of their sharp edges or were chipped with a piece of stone or antler to make into other types of tool like knives or scrapers.

This object is on display at RAMM in the Making History gallery.
