overmantel (overmantel)
Descriptions
An ‘overmantel’ was a decorative panel above a fireplace. At the centre of this panel is an image of the sun with a face, surrounded by scrolls with two cherubs above. It was salvaged from a bedroom in the farm in the 1980s.
This object is on display at RAMM in the Making History gallery.
