mask (mask)

Descriptions

This is an ancient Greek pottery mask in the shape of a female face which has been damaged and is missing the mouth area. It was found at the necropolis at Marsala and therefore had a specific funerary use, possibly as decoration of a tomb. It was one of many items from this site donated to the museum in 1927.
