alabastron (vessel)
Descriptions
An ‘alabastron’ was a Greek vessel used for storing perfumed oil. This one is decorated with plants and mythical animals. Its provenance suggests it was excavated by Sir Alfred Biliotti during his important work at the acropolis of Cameiros between 1852 and 1864.
This object is on display at RAMM in the Ancient Worlds gallery.
