Magic Lantern Slide: Exeter Cathedral, Gas Floodlighting 1933 (slide)
Descriptions
William Weaver Baker’s photograph shows the West front of Exeter Cathedral, lit by gas floodlight. Weaver Baker was very interested in both historic architecture and lighting effects, and photographed many historic sites around Exeter and beyond. This is one of two images he took of the Cathedral using different lighting techniques, presumably at the time it changed from gas to electricity.
Inscription
handwritten 'FLOODLIGHTING GAS 205' on top edge
handwritten 'Exeter Cathedral. Gas Floodlighting 1933' on mount
