Sank’s photographs depict the semi-religious resonances found in rugby culture, from the way players jump for the ball to the pageantry and carnival of match-day. There are echoes of Shakespeare in the presentation of a pig’s head mascot, while the flag-draped supporter at a Crediton match radiates majesty and romance “like a medieval knight.”
