This pin cushion is made of cloth, ribbon and glass beads. Sewing was regarded as good therapy for soldiers recovering from war injuries, and they often made items like this for wives and sweethearts. It bears the badge of the Devonshire Regiment, but nothing is known about its maker or recipient.
