plaster panel (panel)

Descriptions

This is one of two plaster panels from the front facade of a merchant’s house in Exeter. The panels are made using a technique called ‘sgraffito’ whereby the design is scratched through the top layer of plaster to reveal the dark plaster underneath.

This object is on display at RAMM in the Making History gallery.
