flake tool (flake)


This stone flake was found during archaeological excavations near Ottery St Mary, Devon. Flakes are the small pieces of stone which were struck from ‘cores’, and used for cutting, or to make other tool types such as scrapers, arrowheads or knives.

This object is on display at RAMM in the Making History gallery.
