‘Exeter from Exwick’, by William Traies (1789-1872), c.1840. The painting depicts the landscape surrounding Exeter during the mid-19th Century from the North-Western position of Exwick. The River Exe can be seen in the basin below, with Exeter city seen on the hill in sunlight focus.
