pocket (pocket)
Descriptions
This pocket is made of ecru linen and embroidered in yellow silk thread. Ladies gowns did not have pockets sewn into them during the 18th century. Separate pockets were used that could be worn either singly or as a pair. This one has tapes at the top that would be tied around the waist. Pockets like this were worn under the petticoat.
