superb lyrebird (bird)
Descriptions
This male superb lyrebird was donated to the museum in 1947. It came from New South Wales, Australia, but may not have been a wild bird. It probably died at Whipsnade zoo in Bedfordshire. Two of its 16 tail feathers are curved and resemble a lyre (a stringed musical instrument).
This object is on display at RAMM in the In Fine Feather gallery.
