This work depicting the fruiting bodies of a fungus is a preliminary plate for ‘Illustrations of British Fungi (Hymenomycetes), to serve as an atlas to the "Handbook of British Fungi"’ by Mordecai Cubitt Cooke (1825-1914). It was published as plate 246.
The specimen of hirneolus was either drawn or found by William Phillips.
