stocking purse (purse)
Costume and TextilesDescriptions
This heavily beaded stocking or miser’s purse has a split at the centre. By pushing the rings or sliders towards the centre you can put your money in one of the ends and then move the slider back to keep it secure. Knitted purses were very popular during the 19th century and were carried by many ladies as they could be made at home.
