hen harrier (bird: skin)

Descriptions

Hen harriers are rare winter visitors to Devon, but this bird was shot by game keeper Ernest Isles at Morchard Bishop, mid-Devon, in 1923. It remains the most persecuted of birds since it is seen as a threat to grouse numbers on shooting estates.

This object is on display at RAMM in the In Fine Feather gallery.
