Descriptions

This is one of two joining shards of a glass bottle found during the archaeological excavations for the South Devon Link Road near Eginswell Lane, Kingskerswell. They are unusual because they are inscribed with two personal names which read [Wi]lliam Macey D[….. Ge]orge Williams. Such inscriptions are often a personalisation, so the presence of two names is peculiar.
