Descriptions
Susan Derges is a critically-acclaimed artist whose experimental photographic techniques, along with a move to live and work on Dartmoor in 1992, led her to create new, innovative work of local rivers. Derges is best known for her camera-less techniques which create unique, one-off, photographic prints. Eden 6 was created in the River Taw on a moonless but starlit night by submerging photographic positive paper just beneath the water’s surface and exposing it to a brief flash of light.
Two other works in the series, Eden 4 and Eden 5, are held in the collection of the V&A Museum, London. In this film commissioned by the V&A Susan talks about camera-less photography https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz5A4qCfm3s
