Descriptions

‘In the Channel’ by Thomas Luny (1759-1837), 1817. This oil on canvas depicts in its central focus a large, three mast galleon surrounded by assorted smaller boats. On the near left a boat sailed by four men, three wearing blue jackets and the fourth a red jacket; all wear hats. White chalk cliffs are visible to the right, which possibly may be off Dover. Luny, a Cornish artist, focussed his attention on marine and seascape paintings.

This object is not on display.
