jug with trefoil mouth (vessel)

This is a red slip jug from ancient Cyprus which is imitating two other types of vessel. The shape and decoration copies that of metal vessels which were much more expensive than ceramic vessels. It is also imitating Phoenician pottery, but was made locally to where it was found.
