This coin is part of an important collection of Saxon and early medieval coins held by the museum. The collection contains examples of coins minted in the Devon burgh towns of Exeter, Lydford, Barnstaple and Totnes. This penny was issued by William II, and was minted in Exeter by a moneyer called Saewine.
