Javelin

Description
Felix Speiser (1923) “In Port Olry and eastern Santo the most elegant weapon is the javelin armed with spikes of bones directed forwards. The use of this weapon spread from the east coast to central and western Santo... at any rate these javelins were very dangerous weapons. Before discharging his weapon the thrower tried to impart to it a sideways oscillatory movement so that, by vibrating in flight, it was capable of inflicting a lateral wound.”
