Magic lantern slide: Neolithic bead

Hembury hillfort is an important Neolithic and Iron Age site in the Blackdown Hills, East Devon. The site was excavated between 1930-1935 by Hilary Liddell, and this glass slide is one of several made to record the excavations. This photograph records two views of the same Neolithic jet bead, discovered during the 1932 excavation.
