This is one of two portraits by Reynolds of the same sitter. The RAMM picture can be dated to about 1753-54. Thomas Dawson (1725-1813), born in Dublin, became MP for County Monaghan and was created Baron Dartrey in 1770 and Viscount Cremorne in 1785.
