The Untilled Fields
- Description
- The British War Propaganda Bureau appointed Bone as Britain's first official war artist in May 1916. He arrived at the front in August 1916 during the Battle of the Somme and by the following October had produced more than 150 drawings. Though his compositions lack horrific detail, they are nevertheless an authentic record of the logistics of war.
