Common kingfisher

Description
The kingfisher is an iconic bird on UK rivers, but its rapid flight means you might only see a fleeting streak of vivid blue. In summer they hunt and breed along slow-flowing streams, rivers and lakes. As temperatures drop they may migrate downstream to lower altitudes spending the winter in comparatively warmer coastal locations often feeding in estuaries or harbours and along rocky seashores
