Magic Lantern Slide: Rest-house, Babylon

This photograph by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows the a ‘rest house’ at the historic site of Babylon, with military men in the foreground. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He visited several archaeological and historical sites and photographed them to record his experiences.
