Magic Lantern Slide: British soldiers and local people at river bank
- Description
- This photographic slide by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows a large number of people on the shore of water source, with two lorries on a track behind them. Some people are filling their water bottles, and it seems likely this was a rest stop during a journey. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed scenes like this to record his experiences.
