This photograph by Alfred Rowden shows a settlement or camp on a river bank, probably the Tigris in Iraq. It was taken by Rowden in Mesopotamia, where he served during the First World War until he was sent home in 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
