Magic Lantern Slide: Doorway of mosque or palace
- Description
- This slide by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows the highly decorated entrance to a mosque. It shows considerable likeness to the Al-Kadhimayn Mosque and Shrine in Baghdad but Rowden did not record the location. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
