- This photograph by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows a street scene in Mesopotamia, possibly Baghdad. The image shows local people wearing a variety of styles of clothing, which Rowden seems to have been particularly interested in. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
