Magic Lantern Slide: River bank with sailing boat
- Description
- This photographic slide by Alfred Rowden shows a river scene with a sailing boat and part of the river bank on the left hand side. On the bank stands a mosque, and several boats are moored to the bank. The yellow tint of the image appears to be due to the use of a tinted lantern slide. The image was taken by Rowden in Mesopotamia, where he served during the First World War until he was sent home in 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
