Doll

Description
Catherine Elliott, Nessa Leibhammer, 2017 DDF Africa research:
Child figure made from monkey orange (Strychnos spinoza) at either end with a bundle of reeds thrust into the upper and lower shells – partial label reads ‘tabele Doll, Canon Greenstock’ we think this would have said 'Matabele'. There is some cracking on the shells, looks quite old – mgwana ba pelego (common noun). See relevant chapter in Evocations of the Child.
