Intaglio ringstone with image of Pegasus
- Description
- This ringstone depicts Pegasus, a winged horse popular in ancient Greece and later adopted by the Romans. The ringstone was made during the Roman period but the original Roman ring has not survived. It is instead set in a more recent ring mount. This item was once part of the collection of Sir Arthur Evans and it is thought the metal ring was made for his collection.
