Amulet with image of Medusa
- Description
- This is a cameo made from three-layered agate. It shows an image of the gorgon Medusa with wings on the top of her head, and snakes for hair framing her face and knotted under her chin. There is damage to her forehead and nose area. The cameo would have been set into a ring or worn as a pendant. This image was thought to protect the wearer from the evil eye.
