Description
An unusual carving of a standing male figure (moai tangata) of an ancestor. These figures bear a resemblance to the larger stone moai, ancestral chiefs believed to be descended from the gods.

Transferred from Woodspring Museum in 1974 “from the collection of R.F.S.Merrick, member of the British Scientific Expedition to the South Pacific, 1924-25.”
