Mortar

Description
This is a round based mortar supported on three short square legs. Stone bowls called ‘mortars’ were used with a ‘pestle’ hand-held tool for grinding materials such as spices. This one was made in the Cypriot Bronze Age, and similar objects can be found in domestic kitchens today.
